So 30beats is proving more popular than the X Factor…

…well it is in our eyes!

We are loving your enthusiasm as the voting is now at full steam. It seems that everyone is a critic and it is great to see the dialogues developing between voters and contestants.

We are striving to make this competition as fair and enjoyable as possible and have consulted the contestants to which we wanted to clarify the final agreed judging process.

We have implemented a league table where entrants receive points in exchange for their star ratings:

5 stars – 5 points
4 stars – 4 points
3 stars – 3 points
2 stars – 2 points
1 star – 1 point

At the end of the competition, all these points will be added up to find our winner. This takes both quality and quantity into account and should find the out and out top dog deserving of the prize.

On the matter of the whole contest being a popularity contest we wanted to open up the floor to discussion and let you know what the 30beats team think. It could be said that everything is a popularity contest in one way or another these days but that is most certainly not all there is to it.

The team behind 30beats will be working hard to gain exposure for all of the entrants and their tracks so that the ‘Great British Public’ can have their say, we are excited to hear the opinions of as many people as possible – not just those who may be biased towards a particular entrant.

Music, when you think about it, is after all, a matter of taste and taste is subjective, charts are based on sales (the public voting with their wallets) and the decision makers look for the artists that are going to be popular with the most people so the best should always come out top in the end.

And that’s why John and Edward are never going to win the X Factor no matter what Louis thinks.

All said and done the entrants are encouraged to do whatever they can to raise their profile and rally their friends, family, colleagues and even milkman to support them in trying to win the Hyundai i30.
